How we check each answer

By David Michaelson, MS Last checked October 23, 2026

Five questions, every tool

For each tool and plan, we answer the same five questions: does it train on your data by default, how long is your data kept, who can see it, where is data stored, and how do you delete it. The plans we list are the ones the vendor’s own pages name. We do not guess at plans a page does not cover.

Only the vendor’s own pages

Every answer comes from the vendor’s own privacy policy, help center, or trust pages. We do not use news stories, reviews, or other sites as sources. Each answer links to the exact page we read. Setting names are quoted exactly as the vendor writes them.

A date and a status on every answer

Each answer shows one of two things:

  • Read on October 23, 2026 We read this on the vendor’s page on that date.
  • Not confirmed. When we could not confirm an answer on the vendor’s page, the answer says so in plain words, for example “Not stated on the page we read.” We show the page we checked and the date, and we never fill the gap with a guess.

Our pages are built from one data file per tool. If any answer is missing its source link, its date, or its status, the page does not build. Today the directory has 290 answers, and 52 of them could not be confirmed.

No sponsors, no affiliate links

No vendor pays to be listed, and no link on these pages earns us a commission. We do not rank tools by who pays.

Keeping it current

Vendors change their terms often. Each answer shows the date we last read its source. When we recheck a page, the date changes, and anything that changed goes in the change log.
