Midjourney and your company’s data

By David Michaelson, MS Last checked October 23, 2026

The short answer

Midjourney says its models are trained partly on data users provide through its service, its terms give it a broad license to what you upload, and your creations are public by default unless you pay for Stealth mode.

Safer setup: Never upload customer photos, logos you do not own, or confidential images to Midjourney. If your team uses it, use a Pro or Mega plan with Stealth mode, and work outside public Discord channels.

The five answers

Each answer comes from Midjourney’s own policy or help pages, with the link and the date we read it. Setting names are quoted exactly as Midjourney writes them.

Midjourney: what happens to your data
QuestionAll Midjourney plans
Trains on your data by default?

Yes. Midjourney says its training data includes data users provide through the service, and its terms give it a lasting license to use what you put in and create. The pages we read describe no opt-out.

How long your data is kept

As long as Midjourney needs it. Its privacy policy gives no fixed period, saying it keeps personal data as long as necessary for its stated purposes and legal obligations.

Who can see it

Anyone, by default. Midjourney’s terms say your content is publicly viewable and remixable unless you use Stealth mode, which only Pro and Mega plans have. Creations in public Discord channels stay visible even then.

Where data is stored

Wherever Midjourney and the companies that process data for it operate. The privacy policy names no country.

How to delete

Start account deletion from the Manage Subscription page on midjourney.com. Your subscription is canceled at once, and data is permanently erased after a 7-day window. Trashing a single creation does not make it private.

Safer setup, step by step

  1. Use a Pro or Mega plan and turn on Stealth mode before creating anything for work. Only these plans have it. Source: docs.midjourney.com for this step
  2. Create on the Midjourney website or in private messages, not in public Discord channels, where creations stay visible even with Stealth mode. Source: docs.midjourney.com for this step
  3. To delete your account and data, start from the Manage Subscription page on midjourney.com. You have 7 days to change your mind before data is erased. Source: docs.midjourney.com for this step

What to write in your policy

Staff do not upload customer images, customer names, or confidential material to Midjourney. Any approved use is on a Pro or Mega plan with Stealth mode on.
