Wispr Flow and your company’s data

By David Michaelson, MS Last checked October 23, 2026

The short answer

Wispr Flow’s “Improve the model for everyone” and Dictation Cloud Storage settings start on, so dictation audio, transcripts, and edits may be used to train its models unless you turn them off; on Enterprise, training is off and cannot be turned on.

Safer setup: Turn off “Improve the model for everyone” and Dictation Cloud Storage for everyone, or use Enterprise, where training is locked off. Remember that dictation captures whatever people say, including customer details.

Wispr Flow: what happens to your data, by plan
QuestionFree, Pro, and TeamsEnterprise
Trains on your data by default?

Yes, unless you turn it off. Wispr says the “Improve the model for everyone” switch starts on, letting it use your audio, transcripts, and edits to train its models. On Pro and Teams each member decides. Outside AI providers may not train on your data.

No. Wispr says Enterprise accounts have data sharing turned off, with no option to turn it on.

How long your data is kept

While Dictation Cloud Storage is on, which it is by default, Wispr keeps dictation transcripts, audio, and history on its servers. With it off, audio is deleted once transcribed.

Admins control Dictation Cloud Storage for the organization, and only Enterprise admins can enforce zero data retention.

Who can see it

Wispr staff, limited. Wispr says it limits access to authorized personnel only and logs every access.

How to delete

Turn off Dictation Cloud Storage, and set local history to auto-delete after 24 hours or never save it.

Same as other plans. Admins can also keep Dictation Cloud Storage off for the organization.

Safer setup, step by step

  1. In the Wispr Flow app, open Settings, then Data and Privacy, and turn off “Improve the model for everyone.” Source: wisprflow.ai for this step
  2. In the same place, turn off Dictation Cloud Storage so dictation stays on the device. Audio is then discarded once transcribed. Source: wisprflow.ai for this step

What to write in your policy
