Zoom AI Companion and your company’s data
By David Michaelson, MS Last checked October 23, 2026
The short answer
Zoom says it does not use your meeting audio, video, chat, screen sharing, or attachments to train its own or outside AI models; the bigger question for a team is who receives the meeting summaries.
Safer setup: Decide who gets meeting summaries before you turn them on. Admins can turn off and lock the meeting transcript setting so no lasting transcript is kept.
The five answers
Each answer comes from Zoom’s own policy or help pages, with the link and the date we read it. Setting names are quoted exactly as Zoom writes them.

What to write in your policy
Hosts turn on AI Companion meeting summaries only for internal meetings, or after every attendee has been told. Summaries with customer details are shared only with people who need them.
